. The inclined plane is prehistoric. No one knows who invented it. It almost certainly "developed" rather than got "invented".
. It is so basic that there are not many details. It can either be a force multiplier (provides a mechanical advantage) or a motion multiplier (changes rate of motion, but increases the force required from the operator). It inherently changes direction of motion; horizontal input results in a vertical output.
. The inclined plane can take many forms, from the simple ramp for vehicles and the wedge for splitting wood, to the screw, which is an inclined plane wrapped around a shaft, such that the output motion is parallel to the shaft. A cam is an inclined plane wrapped around a shaft such that the output motion is perpendicular to the shaft. A swash plate is a sort of modified cam which provides output parallel to the shaft.

RE:
Who invented the inclined plane?
i would like to know who invented the inclined plane, how it works, and many details about it for a science project.

The inclined plane is one of the so-called "simple machines," and it was invented in prehistory. In fact, inclined planes exist in nature in the form of sloping hillsides. If you want to move an object to a higher elevation, it is easier to push it up an incline than to lift it vertically. This because while you must counteract gravity in both cases, the vertical lift requires a force equal to that of gravity while the inclined path allows you to supply a lower force, equal to the component of gravity parallel to the surface of the inclined plane.
A screw is also a form of inclined plane; the thread is really a ramp that wraps around the shaft.

at the start of civilizations it seems to have been invented.the top stones in the pyramids that are 4500 years old seems to have been lifted by the pushing up the stone on an inclined plane. In india a shiva temple built almost a thousand years ago by the chola dynasty king Raja raja called the Brihadeswara temple in thanjavur in the state of tamil nadu has a granite top weighing several tonnes that has been found to have been lifted and placed at the top by making of an inclined road to the top of the temple that was several kilometers in length and the granite stone was placed on round logs and pushed up by elephants.

lol i don't know if you'll be able to pinpoint this one, i think just about any idiot could invent it, it's not really that hard.
