I was reading a Monster.com article on depression in the workplace (http://content.monster.com/articles/3512/17171/1/home.aspx?WT.mc_n=MNL000283) and teh final Quote was "a job is a privilege" it made me think and I wondered how many would agree with this statement.

no, but life, on the other hand, IS A RIGHT.

And if the world has been designed in such a way, by those who CONTROL it - the TRANSNATIONAL RULING CLASS - to make having a job the determining factor of whether we live or die, then THEY are wrong and the world must change!

Your question leads to another - Why MUST you have a job and what purpose or agenda is that job or ALL jobs forwarding?

I think in a way it is because you given the chance to maintain yourself. While they are not required to hire you. For me I would really love to be a archaeologist but these is no demand for that. So I am going to study to be a pharmacist now the privilege is theirs because there is a demand for them. The way I see it if the society needs your service it is not a privilege if you need the job and don't have much of a choice it is a privilege

I agree with that somewhat..... but I think it is a privilege for both the employee and the employer. Now it is only a privilege as long as both parties are benefiting from that relationship.
