I've been on the combined pill for 2 months now and usually i take it at the same hour every day. every month there were a couple of days when i was late, but never more than 2 and a half hours (most of the times i was late by 15 minutes or something). the pack leaflet says it still works if you miss a whole day, just as long as you go on with it. Got my periods on time.
worried cose today, halfway through my third pack (taken 10 pills out of 21), i feel my breasts are getting a bit bigger and tender. took a test yesterday came out negative but guess it's just too early to tell. could i be pregnant? has anybody experienced tender breasts while on the pill and can it be something else than pregnancy?

Thanks everybody for your answers! Took another test - still negative - guess I'll keep testing until either I get a positive or a period.

When you are on the pill you can get symptoms of "feeling pregnant". Tender breasts, late/early periods (ESPECIALLY when you just started), sometimes you will break out (acne) and sometimes it clears your face, you will feel bloated at times and so on and so fourth. This is all normal. I have been on the pill since I was 14 and I'm 21 now, so I def. have experience! The pill will also take around 6-8 MONTHS to work correctly...meaning having your period on time every month. I can go right along with my pills and know the exact dates I will feel bloated/crampy and then get my period. I also know will I will stop or just spot (if I do.) If you feel you could still be pregnant, see your doctor as soon as possible. The pill as you know is not 100% affective and since you haven't been taking it very long, it's very possible you could have become pregnant.
Good luck & I hope everything works out... :o)

i wouldn't worry yet. you seem to be on top of your medication and are taking it at the same time every day. that's good. and even though you were late by a few hours doesn't mean that you're pregnant. tender breasts could be an onset of your period (PMS) or just your body's reaction to the birth control. i gained weight on my bc pills. there are a variety of symptoms. if you're still worried about it, wait another two weeks and take another test. it should also come back negative. but remember, birth control is only 99% effective so there is always that small chance. if you suspect you are pregnant, stop the pill immediately. you could harm your baby if you stay on it.

I never took birth control pills but I know for a fact that the pills are only 99.9% effective. A few people can get their periods the whole time they are pregnant. I would go to Planned Parenthood and have that checked out, they were a big help to me when I went there. I am questioning if you are pregnant because you stated taht the test came back negative. Good luck!

geting breast tenderness and some other symptoms that are similar to being pregnant are some side effects of birth control pills. They change your hormones and those changes make your body act almost like you are pregnant but obviously you are on the pill you are not pregnant.
As long as you did not take any type of antibiotics while you have been on the BC pill then you should be fine. If the pregnancy test says negative then you probablt are not pregnant and these are just side effects of the pill

It doesn't hurt that you took your pill a few hours late.
Of course your breasts still swell and become tender on the pill. The more you worry about being pregnant the longer it will take your period to start. Don't worry!

yes, tender breasts are probably just PMS symptoms not pregnancy symptoms. some birth control pills may also give you tender breasts. Just wait until you actually miss your period to start taking a pregnancy test.

tender boobs can be a sign of pms, its one of my symptoms, but tender breasts are also one of the first signs of pregnancy. Take a test again because you may have taken the other one too soon, if your still unsure with the results go to a doc and get a real test.

The hormones in the pill can cause you to have tender breasts. I also always get tender breast before my period. I've been on the pill for years.

The pill is only 97% accurate, that means the other 3% can get preggars and looks like you are in that 3%.
