It sounds a bit funny to me that the15 year old daughter of a well known preacher (who happens to claim not to like hip hop) was at an Akon concert that was exclusively for patrons 18 and up was tricked into a "simulated sexual act" on stage at a club in Trinidad. After the video was released on You Tube and Local Media the father of the girl demanded an investigation as to why his innocent daughter was sexually assaulted. As a result Akon was then banned from travelling to Trinidad and was dropped from his endorsement deal with Virizon Wireless. I'm not defending his actions but I would like to question the situaion itself. Do you feel that the consequences should have been harsh or do you think that everything is blown all out of proportion?

Finally people that don't judge our dear Akon. Also i think that the girl and the club are both responsible. She went to a club for only people that are 18 years. The club did not check or ask her for her age. She even dressed like she was 21, she dressed nothing like a 14 year old. Akon thought she was 18 or older, the video shows only a little, other pics show her on top of him dancing (was she forced, i think not) what she needs to do is act her age, although teenagers are always tempted to act older. I have no idea what her preacher dad would do. i still love you Akon.

Being a Trinidadian myself i know what the club situation is like. Akon is not fully responsible for his actions. The clubs in Trinidad do not check IDs to verify patrons are of age, and Akon most likely assumed that everyone in the club was at least 18 years old. There needs to be better enforcement in Trinidad of rules.

At LAST!!!
Somebody on here speaking some sense!!!

1. Akon thought she was over 18 (as over 18 was the limit for the club)

2. What is Akon supposed to do then? Check everyone in the club or who gets on stage with him for ID?

3. He simulated sex with a girl he believed to be over 18, where is the crime in that?

I am fed up of hearing how he should locked up/prosecuted. The girl is the one who has ACTUALLY knowingly committed a real crime through deception of her true age.
