If you are a man, addicted to chocolate, there may be a larger problem, like an increased prolactin level. You should see your doctor and have a test of your hormone levels. You might try some vitamins. Chocolate is rich in magnesium so you might reduce the crave that way.

Hoodia really helped me with bad food choices, especially sweets like chocolate. Also got me in the habit of eating smaller portions. The people Hoodia works for swear by it. An appetite suppressant that is all natural with no side effects is good stuff!
Hoodia Gordonii is a natural appetite suppressant derived from a South African cactus that the bushmen have eaten there for thousands of years. You need to make sure you get a strong pure hoodia that is certified to be genuine. Check out Totalink's unbiased Hoodia comparison at http://hoodiagordonii.totalink.com/hoodia_comparison.html in the "Confidence" column it will indicate if the brand is "Certified". These Hoodia brands have the credentials to back up their product. Also in that column it will indicate if the brand is "Returnable". These Hoodia brands allow you to return opened bottles and get your money back. I think this indicates that a company has confidence in their product that it works.
I have written a lot of articles on Hoodia. Just search Yahoo or Google under my name “Andrew Aitaken” to find them.

You could try eating chocolate that is 'better' for you.
I found that a half a square of Lindt 85% (70% works pretty good if the 85% is too much) satisfies my chocolate/sweet cravings and it doesn't end up in a carb binge.
Also eat it slowly so that you enjoy the chocolate flavor, rather than scarf it down.
85% also has the boost of a cup of coffee .

I'm sure you have heard everyone say that chocolate is good for you. It is, but the kind sold in stores is full of sugar and other junk. Try eating more natural chocolate or "healthy chocolate" instead of the sweet kind sold in stores. Then progress from there.

Magnesium deficiency can cause chocolate craving. But you can eat whole raw cocoa beans which are good for you. Try grinding them and using Stevia or Xylitol to sweeten.

Just in case this isn't a joke (!), there's a simple technique that's been mentioned a lot in the UK media recently. Have a look here:

Let us know if it works!
