That was a common misconception in the 80's. As it has been proven time and time again, educated women, on average, are no less fertile than non-educated women. They just may not be as interested in having children. (There's empirical evidence to prove this, people.)

I wish being too educated, athletic or smart caused sterility--then I wouldn't have to use birth control.

No. It just means you need a new medical text book. Those are old biased theories. Now we know bad genes and pollution creates excess estrogen and/or pseudoestrogen which in turn causes cancer, endometriosis, fibroids, etc. In addition cysts and infections can scar the ovaries and cause infertility. None of this has anything to do with a woman being educated, athletic or smart.

This couldn't be further from the truth. The only thing education does cause in women is a woman who wants a career before a child. It used to be that having a child was something you had to do before 25, now women are having children in their late 30's. The older a woman is the harder it is to conceive. I find it interesting as well that as the amount of education increases, the number of children (for men OR women) decreases. It's almost as if the smarter you are, the less time and effort you want to put into having kids.

Excessive physical activity CAN cause amenorrhea, a cessation of menstrual periods, which is equated with sterility. This is a reversible condition and usually corrects itself with lifestyle changes. So too athletic, yes.
One can never be too smart or too educated. These have nothing to do with fertility.

no. Although the athletic can lead to decreased fertility if her body fat ratio gets below a certain point (I remember hearing this somewhere but I can't remember where).
However, the above mentioned things can cause a women to put off having babies until later in life (after she has established her career) when a woman's fertility has declined thus making it harder for her to conceive.

No, Ofcourse not! Being smart and athletic might infact INCREASE your sex appeal and your fertility both psychologically and physiologically. Physiologically through fitness and psychologically through confidence. I hope these kind of silly doubts aren't really getting you down.

No, but the more educated a woman is, the more likely she is to have fewer children, or none at all.
