It sounds like you have correctly identified the issue with your car. You can take it to a garage and get it fixed or drive your car without using the clutch. What you can do is put the car in first with the engine off. Start the engine, which will give you a little forward movement with the strength of the starter, this can work in reverse as well and give it some gas, off you go. Then follow the instructions on the link provided below to shift between gears without your clutch. Then take it to the garage and pay around 150-200 to get it fixed without the tow bill.

It might be the Ratchet and Pawl!
This is like a half moon shaped plastic cog with a small plastic lock!
You can see it at the top of the clutch pedal!
If it is they cost about £10 from Fords but there a bugger to fit!

If its the cable and your in the AA just call them and they will fix it for free as long as you buy the cable!
Cables cost about £20

It's possible to DIY.
Get yourself a Haynes Manual for instructions.
Places like Quik-fit and Charlie Browns should be able to give an idea of price over the phone.

You should be able to move the car down there with clutchless changes. Warm the engine up in neutral, turn it off, stick it in first and re-start. Are you a sufficiently good driver to do that?

First you should find out if this car uses hydraulics for the clutch. If it does, you need to check your clutch master cylinder to make sure it's full of brake fluid. You then need to check to see if your slave is still okay. It sounds like the slave went bad and now you have no hydraulic pressure on the slave to disengage the clutch.

If it's a cable, all you need to do is follow the cable to see where it goes and replace it if it's bad.
