The answer is B & D... there were chains of hotels & fast food before 1950... maybe the trick question is the word "franchised" but Carvel Ice Cream was getting franchised by 1948...

and Coca-Cola & 7Up were widely available too pre-50s...

but I will say D was a lot more prevalent than B in the pre-1950s...

The answer is D, although I question the phrasing of B. White Castle (1916) and Howard Johnson were already well-known franchises before the 1950s and there were others as well.

D. Bottled soda pop was widely distributed and consumed from the early 20th century on. Look at all the Coke ads from the 1910s through WWII showing people drinking bottles of coke.
