I had a cactus and couldn't even take care of it. One time my roommate knocked it over, which I think did major damage, and it happend again. So I con't even car for a cactus, perhaps I should go for bambo instead?

I feel your pain. I am hopeless with plants and have also managed to kill a few cacti plants from abuse & neglect (more from neglect). I just seem to not be able to nurture growing things. I hope this doesn't make us bad people!

No it does not make you a bad person. I think cacti are somewhat hard to take care of. I have a cat so she loves my cactus. If you want to stick with a cactus get a pencil cactus. It is such a weird looking cactus that it is cool.
One year for Christmas my brother and I hung Christmas orbs on it as a joke. It was pretty cool.
An Ivy is a pretty good plant also. All you have to do is water it every now and then.
I hope this helped you.~*

Man, don't feel bad. I had a cactus once. I killed it too. I did not know how much water etc... to give it. So no you are not a bad person. Maybe just not a plant person.

if you want to have a plant to care for, try reading up on it so that you are knowledgeable about it, as for your roommate knocking it over, put it somewhere so that it wont be in danger of getting knocked over. If you are looking at getting a bamboo plant then this would be a good site to look for bamboo plant care info.>>>http://www.bamboogarden.com/care.htm

You must redeem yourself immediately...
Actually, come to think of it, a friend gave me an Aloe Vera plant... it's been sitting outside the front door in the front garden. Well, i havent noticed it lately, I think someone stole it. I could go find out right now... but meh

it prob just means that it didnt mean much to you. it doesnt make you a bad person, nor does it foreshadow you not being able to take care of anything else later down the road.
who wants a cactus anyway?

Just because cactus are suppose to be low maintenance doesn't mean everyone can raise them!
Try some ivy.

When you live with a plant molester, it doesn't reflect on your plant parenting skills. Have your friend needs to seek a botanical psychiatrist to help him with his problem... the pattern of abuse can be self perpetuating, your cactus will probably abuse it's own cacti children when it has its own family!

BUY SOME AIR FERN. IT'S A PRETTY PLANT THAT REQUIRES NO CARE AT ALL. IT GETS IT'S MOISTURE AND FOOD FROM PARTICLES IN THE AIR, AND YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO PUT IT INTO SOIL, IT'S A REAL NO BRAINER. NO YOU AREN'T A "BAD PERSON" YOU PROBABLY JUST HAVE AN ACTIVE LIFE, AND AT YOUR AGE THAT'S JUST PLAIN NORMAL.
