Take it to your local VFW or American Legion. There is a particular process for the destruction of a flag. This is done to show respect for our nation and all the men and women who have bravely served our nation. They will be able to perform this. You also might get another flag for free.

The flag is not just a piece of cloth. It represents our nation and an ideal. If you don't understand that, take it to a local VFW or American Legion. They will demonstrate for you the proper way to dispose of a weathered flag.

Take it to the local American Legion and they will take care of it. Most have a flag burning ceremony at least once a year. Some Boy Scout troops also take them. It is more than a piece of cloth.
