1- What did each state have to do to get back into the union (meaning the United States)?
a- Allow all citizens to vote
b- vote for new leaders
c- approve the 14th amendment
d- not allow former confederate soldiers to vote

2- Johnson almost got impeached (like fired) but he was allowed to stay the President because when they voted on whether to fire him, he won by one vote.

3- Carpetbaggers and scalawags were mean names that people called people from the North who came down after the Civil War to rebuild the South. The use of those words caused the South to continue to be mad about the war and to
hate people from the North.

4- Basically says that Grant became the president, and right after he gets elected, the Congress votes to allow all citizens to vote.

5- By 1870, the southern states had taken the deal to be allowed back into the United States by allowing all citizens to vote regardless of race.

Hope this helps!
