I always thought that seahorses would be neat to have as pets.
They are truly beautiful. I saw some when snorkling in Mexico several years ago.
I didn't get them, but I did the google search to find you the websites below. You can repeat the google search and fine more links, but these give you a start.

Seahorses actually make poor pets because they're very difficult to care for - especially if you have little experience with keeping other saltwater fish. Here's a website where you can read about what would be involved in their care: http://www.seahorse.org/
An aquarium, though is a good idea for a pet that requires more limited space. You can get 2.5 or 5 gallon aquariums with light, filter, and hood and keep a fish like a betta or a couple of male guppies (they're prettier and won't have babies to overcrowd your tank) if you add a heater.

Seahorses are very hard to care for. You have to have a species only tank because they are very docile eaters. With other fish in the tank they will not get enough food. They eat tiny shrimp and other small crustaceans. They need very clean water.

Can they be trusted to take care of a sea water fish? Seahorses take A LOT of care. Aquariums have trouble taking good care of them.

they are hard to find and hard to take care of as are all salt water fish. you sould get a freshwater tank you can get a 10 gallon and fill it with alot fo fish and many places sell the whole tank and setup for 30 or 40 dollars while a salt water set up can be over 100 dollars. Gold fish are ok if you only put two or three in a 10 gallonm with a powerful filter

I have found pygmy seahorses that are fairly easy to maintain via mailorder. You feed them brine shrimp, the eggs of which are dropped into the tank and hatch. The shrimp are tiny, but perfect for pygmy seahorses (which are about 1" tall--very small indeed).

No - not good pets, especially for a beginner.
They are EXTREMELY difficult to care for - plus They are expensive (if you can find them at all).

They are somewhat difficult to keep alive...you're better off finding pretty freshwater fish, that are easier to maintain.

I personally think that seahorses should be left in the ocean

They are expensive and hard to care for. I would just go with some fish.
