Price out the ink cartridges FIRST!!!

Then make sure the printer comes with the software for your OS (Vista can't use XP drivers).

Then, look for best price.

I Have a Brother machine 5-1, excellent, copier, fax, scanner, etc., very neat/compact Model number MFC 215C, I live in SPain, bought it here, no idea if you can buy them in the Uk but I highly recommend the firm, I had a new Lexmark, used the printer once, it never worked again, replace it with this, sent that one to the Charity shop in my town, ideal for some kids to practice on, or maybe he got it to work!!

I have always stuck with Epson printers. They are of top quality and you can get ink cartridges for about $4 a piece off ebay.

I have a Brother DCP 120C multi purpose printer and scanner and it is brilliant. You can use either compatible or original cartridges. A good supplier is http://www.cartridgepeople.com.
They have an extensive supply of both compatible and original cartridges (I use compatible and they are very good) their delivery and prices are very good and they have lots of special offers for all machines. What makes the Brother printer more reasonable is the fact that the black and colour cartridges are seperate and so you only need to replace the one that is empty.
When I purchased my printer I checked the prices of cartridges for all the printers that I was interested in first.

Well, I'd still recommend a Lexmark 7300-series. It's an all-in-one, and the ink cartridges are only twenty bucks. :D

Lexmark is the best out there, I think.

Search for "Continuous Ink Supply System", buy one of these kits & printer (Epson/HP/Canon) to go with it.

They really are a good idea & will save you a fortune in ink.

I'd get an Epson. They're cheap to buy and the ink in cheap. You can also get compatibles so the ink is cheaper!
