No problem whatsoever. 33 is not too old. 63 isn't even old (a lot of retirees go back to school for a year or two in order to CHANGE careers, not stop working completely).
Optometry is not really med school. Find a school near you, and start talking to the admissions counselors. They may suggest going to school at nights to take pre-reqs. Based on you performance, they may accept you.
Schools are looking for pasionate individuals for graduate school - age is an asset for this.

No, it's not. Think about it. Even after you finish school, you will still have more than 20 years of working life before you reach average retirement age. That is plenty of time to have a full and rewarding career.

Not too old -- I went back to school when I was 43, getting an MBA at 45 and a PhD at 49. I'm now a college professor.

I went back to school and got my teaching credential at age 50. My mom finished college at age 42. My grandmother went to college for the first time at age 56, graduated at age 60 and made Phi Beta Kappa. So my answer is no, you aren't too old.

No, you know that. I'm myself 31 years old, I have four children and single. I just went back to school to get a B.S in math. I don't think believe you are ever old to do what you want.
