so I had to put the idle high at about 1,400 so it wont die when i put it to gear, do I have a vacuum leak or smething?

You could have many problems. But you can't diagnose them until you know for certain that your battery is good. If your battery is 5 or more years old, replace it and save yourself a lot of headaches. Otherwise, have your battery and charging system tested at your local auto parts store that sells batteries.

No. You have a computer brain problem. About 300.00 dollars worth of a aproblem and it will not get better. Check your belts and alternator also but it sounds like a brain problem to me. Also, how old is your battery? Since you charged it, it may be able to start the car but won't keep it running if your alternator isn't working properly. Check the little stuff first and go on up the line to the more expensive stuff if you don't figure out the problem in the lower money end. I say, check out a brain. It will probably save you from a lot of running around for nothing if of course you have a good battery and alternator.

dude, a vacume leak, will mess with your idle. so will fuel filters, cloged air cleaner. timing shain may have jumped a tooth.
11400 RPM is not good for the mill, or tranny and rear end.
