Well, I have! All of this hatefull language. Hasn't changed one persons mind. On how to vote, any any upcoming Election. So I'm moving down the hallway. To any number of the other departments. Where I'll be talking about things with my many friends.
So, to those with either Party Loyalties!! Who, daily, spew hatred; disrespect Our President; dishonor Our Miltiary. And wish ill-will on fellow Americans. I ask this:
QUESTION: "Can You", meet me at the Ballot Box at Election time? We'll shake hands, before going in. We'll congratulate eachother when we come out. And go our seperate way.
But we will do it. Without all of this hatred and anger. And I won't have to see you try to disguise a Four-Letter Word. For reasons that only you are aware of.
To my many friends, I say. I knew the job was dangerous when I took it. I just no longer have the stomach to see such actions. At a time when there are Enemies. Wishing us harm.

You'll be able to pick me out at The Ballot Box. I'll be the one with the biggest smile on my face. Feel free to step up and shake my hand.
(If you can do it, in a civil manner).
But, then again. If you can do it then? Why can't you do it now?

Very good post Buzzard. I probably disagree with you on many issues but there is never a reason for personal attacks on someone. Regardless of what political party ties you have.

It's tough. There are forces at work that have produced separate truths that different people believe adamantly. When you believe "x" and I believe "y" and x and y are mutually exclusive, one of us is dead wrong. Add to that the vitriole spilled here and other places about x or y and you get into the mindset that x or y is the sign of a bad person.
I'll admit, I have criticized the president. I submit that my criticism has been no harsher than that heaped on the previous president by the other side. I don't think criticism of the president makes one unpatriotic.
I'll admit, I have criticized the war. I submit that my criticism was no harsher than that of the Kosovo or Somalia campaigns. I don't think that criticizing the use of military force makes one unpatriotic or in any way hurts our troops.
I have never wished a fellow American ill will. I have wished criminals to be punished, scandals to be investigated, and those who make a living off of spewing hatred and misinformation from the tv and radio to be denied that pulpit. I don't believe that to be un-American.
I wish we could just sit and talk about what we have in common, instead of sniping and looking for Gotchas. This site is what it is, however. Every evenhanded voice that departs leaves it a poorer place.

Lessons come to us in this life in many forms. Unfortunately there are those who are too blind to see them, who are not tolerant of other people's ideals or values, who would rather struggle with their own inner battles, than embrace the possibility that another opinion is not necessarily wrong, just different. Voting is not a right. Voting is a responsibility. One that many people avoid like a disease and then complain when their world is not right. I will vote again as I always do My candidate may not win but I will have had the satisfaction of making my voice heard. And Buzz, it would be my honor to shake your hand, anytime, anywhere

I'll give you a kiss! Despite my views I am neither a Republican or a Democrat. I vote for the person who, in my opinion, will do the best job regardless of party. Even if I disagree deeply with someone I see no reason to be abusive especially if their views are held in good conscience. I do have problems with those who hold views to be obnoxious or for selfish motives. When I see abuse being dished out I always feel the need to take the position being attacked. Maybe why I get so much hate mail. I have had one person threatening to cut my head off with a hacksaw, lovely man.

Yes, I have gotten to the point of saying "That's It." It's usually the personal attacks that get me upset. I don't mind a little sarcasm but there's a difference.
I do enjoy reading other points of view. There's a lot I like and dislike about all parties. No one is perfect and no party is perfect. I do think it's important that we continue to stand for what we believe be it on this fun little forum or in the real world.

Look at it this way. . . . . When you do good for a stranger, do you expect to 'see' that stranger show you results ?
Life doesn't work that way . I'm sure you've had a positive effect on many already good people and on some not so good people . The results that you're expecting to see won't be coming your way anytime soon, if ever . but they're there .
If God believed that promoting good and teaching others to be good would have a long-term effect on others, then so should you and all of us .
Years ago, I taught and trained young people for a specific job . I was understanding, but I did not ever buckle to their whines or complaints . Oh, I got some real interesting feedback from liberal parents who disagreed and thought I should go much easier on their teens, but No WAY . The Result ? Very few thank you's , very few. . . .. . BUT, now that time has passed , I have met some of those parents and more of those former teens . And what a shocker to learn that everyone who I've met has thanked me for sticking to my guns despite the troubles that they gave me !!
No kidding . A couple of years ago, I unexpectedly ran into a father of one of the more troublesome teens . This father and his wife had really given me a hard time when their teen worked for me . I was meeting friends at a pub and this guy walks up to me and says he recognizes me and called me by my name . He also said 'Do you remember me, I am the father of so and so . Whoa I thought, here comes trouble . But noooo, he bought me several drinks that night and would not stop thanking me for what I did for his kid !! What a surprise !!
Another time recently, I was visiting my old hometown and stayed at a motel . The check-in girl was one of my former employees from almost a decade ago . We both recognized each other and I do remember how troubled she was and how troubling her mother was for me . She shocked the heck out of me when she told me that I was the best boss she has ever had and thanked me for never giving up on her !! And I was a strict SOB too !! I always felt it was more important to do what is right , rather than what seems comfortable at the time .
Buzz, right now there are several people who you have touched . It ain't gonna work on all of them, but it's worth it for even ONE !!!

The day I started on here, I wanted to discuss politics with people. However, I was called four letter words and sent hateful e-mails from day one. Although my views are the exact opposite of yours, I completely agree with what you are saying. The truth is politics is not a good thing to discuss across the internet, as there is no accountability.

I hear you! I say "I'm done here." Then, I make an appointment with the psychiatric firm of Ernest & Julio Gallo, who usually recommend I speak with Jose' Cuervo. Works every time :)
I'll wait for you. You'll be back :)

Just reading your headline question,
My mind flashed~~
Yes, I get to the point of saying "That's it".
I don't say it though.
I'm afraid the Lord may take me seriously, regarding life.ha
I love what you have to say following your initial question.
I too, am ready to move on. I will vote as I always have.
Praise God that Ft. Dix was spared pain and death by the terrorist that wish to destroy us. God Bless America.~~~jill
