Girl, I'm the same way! When I finally find clothes or shoes I like, even if I put them in my buggy, I usually take them out cause I'm thinking I should be buying something for my kids. It's the strangest damn thing. I guess that's why I hardly have clothes. I think I have the least amount of clothes of any woman I know!

Not initially. Because I always feel that you only live your life once, you don't get a second chance. So, why not. But if I used bill money, then I fell major guilt. But I usually get over it. There should be a balance between spending, saving and paying bills. If you get your joy from buying for other people, that is a good thing. Most people are not as selfless. The guilt is something you will have to learn to work through. Life is too short!!!!

Buddy you just need more practice, I mean if you are buying 100s of dollars of gifts for all of your family and friends(once you add everything up), then there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with treating yourself here and there. You should not feel guilty at all. Sh*t, you DESERVE it. If you do feel bad or you are new to the game, start small, but then gradually increase. I plan on buying myself an ipod nano in a few months. Do I feel bad? Hell no. I do alot around the house and I have no problem buying for other ppl. So damn it I deserve it. I also, as a means of alone time, like to go to a coffee shop on weekends and treat myself to a cup of java and a pastry.

Actually the fact that you feel guilty is a good thing because it shows that you are a good human being with compassion for others..I have the same problem,my family always comes first I make sure that everyone has what they need before i get thing's for myself and sometimes i also feel guilty..It is just part of being a good person.

I used to think only of others when I shopped. I had it in mind that If I gave them things I would be happier and they would like or love me more.
I was wrong to give thing to others you have to give up all reason that they will do anything for you in return.
So I have started focusing on my self and that has given me so much more that giving to others. now I know what I want and how to get it . That way the disappointment is not there when waiting for a return.
so to answer the question. no. I feel no guilt of any sort when only buying for myself.

I've always had this problem. I've gotten a bit better recently, but I think it's because I don't feel like I should be spending the money on something else. For example, if I buy myself some new underwear (necessity), I don't feel guilty because my kids need new underwear. If they need new underwear, I can buy them some, too. It didn't use to be like that, I used to have to pick who was going to get new underwear.

No, just think! How many people do you think will have the heart to remember that one day this person had done something good to me? Good deeds are very easily forgotten by people in this world.
Today you help someone, tomorrow only by chance that person will bother to see how you're doing.
What is the use wasting your own peace and money?
But still sometimes I do feel bad but not guilty.
I wish everyone had a thought like yours.

If I have money, I don't usually think about myself. I think about my mom and send the money to her, the rest I put to my piggy bank. But if i really need something important... that is really very important then I would buy it without any guilt knowing that I already helped someone I cared about. You know what, we are the same... seeing others happy makes me happy.

I know how you feel. I'm the same way. I always think that I should be buying something for my kids instead. I think we need to try and remember that we need to be happy also.

oh lord..i knew my father in heaven was gonna do this to me someday..came quicker than i thought..lol..anyways...YES I DO!!..i have a 12 year old son who lives with his mother..(great lady and mom by the way)..i bought a computer in the past month..total price all together..around 700 dollars..i feel real guilty for spending that kind of money on my-self instead of spending it on my son.The reason i did is because first of all i made it clear with his mother before i did it..i made sure he was OK..school stuff..etc.etc...the second reason is that they do have a computer at their home..third reason..probably the biggest,i am a recovering alcoholic and it is probably the most entertain thing to have around when my son isn't with me.I feel if i don't have a computer that i might turn back to drugs and alcohol...i hope I'm not making an excuse...GOD forgive me if i did it out of selfishness...thank you...good question.
