Maybe a little, but I'll take it :-) It probably was not meant as a backhanded compliment, just a compliment.. some people aren't the best at expressing themselves.. be easy on 'em..

It depends on the tone & manner of delivery!
'Strangely' is unusual & it disturbs if not hurts!
It is a backhanded compliment bordering on an insult. But one can take it sportively to feel good!

I think they are trying to say that you don't possess the qualities that they normally find attractive, but oddly enough, they find you attractive anyway. (Perhaps you have a great sense of humor or you share common interests. Perhaps you are a really nice guy, and she usually goes for the "bad boy" type. Perhaps what she said just came out the wrong way.) So you need to decide if you want to go for it or not.
Good luck!!

I think it is a backhanded compliment. If they were really trying to compliment you, they'd just say they find you attractive. Adding "strangely" just make me think that they see something weird about 'you'! Of course, we all know it isn't YOU!

Yes, it's a compliment. They are playing a little, trying to keep from embarrassing themselves if the recipient just gives them the old blank "huh?" look.

yeah right your "asking for a friend". No, it's not back handed they still said that "you" were attractive, I mean your friend. We're all a little strange in our own way.

if anyone uses the word "attractive" in any sentence describing me I will take it as compliment. I am not what you would call a "Looker" if you know what I am sayin.
