Many people seem to think that modern liberalism equals an increase in the size in government. If this were true, why did the size of the federal government shrink under the Clinton administration, yet grow under the Bush administration?

Do you think that many people are just confused or dishonest in their portrayal of a national health-care system? Mitt Romney, the republican governor of Massachusetts, signed into law a state-wide healthcare system; does this make him a communist? Does this make the state of Massachusetts communist? If not, why is Hillary Clinton's proposed national health care system, which is not much different, considered socialist?

The far right is confused and grasping for straws. Anything they can do to try and save themselves while their Titanic is slowly sinking. If they had their way we would all be walking in our jack boots in goose step with fearless leader. We would all have a picture of fearless leader in every room in our homes and in our cars. We would thank fearless leader for everything we have and if we dared even think of dissent against fearless leader we would be hauled off and never seen again and our families would die of hard labor in a concentration camp. North Koreans can tell you all about it.

What little conservative media we have as well as talk radio do a great job of exposing the hypocrisy and absence of good ideas which embody the left. They are also the only ones that give BOTH a FAIR hearing which cant be said for the liberal media at all. Their only response is to try to silence the opposition and shut down debate.

Because of the republican congress we had, spending was kept in check. They were the ones that saved us money doing things like welfare reform which clinton opposed. Lets not forget that Clinton had one of the largest tax increases in history.

Somehow I get the feeling that what Romney did and Clinton wanted to do were 2 completely different things.

Although the government grew at a slower rate under Clinton than Bush Sr. or Jr. it still grew and has been increasing in size since its begining. No president has succeeded in shinking the government and that will not happen until we elect third party candidates that don't take contributions from big business.

The majority of the media seem to reside on the left, not the right. The size of the government has grown under both administrations.

Yes, I am not sure hwen helping Americans became considered socialism, and am unaware of anyone trying to "destroy America", even though most of my firends are liberals. They take the anti-war activists who burn flags and the crazy liberals that want to make laws against spanking your child, and pretend that they represent the majority of liberals, all the time ignoring people in their own party, such as Ann Coulter

Obviously you're confused and/or dishonest about a national health care plan... especially if you don't see it as a massive increase in the size of government.

Where is the money going to come from to pay for it? More taxes.

Who is going to administer it? Tens of thousands of new government employees working in a new government bureaucracy.

How is it going to be administered? According to thousands upon thousands of pages of new laws and regulations.

More taxes + more bureaucracy + more government employees + more red tape and regulations = bigger government. Sorry to have to be the one to break that to you.
