Does President Bush's comment about the queen giving him a look "only a mother could give a child", after his slip-up on the date she began her reign, soun shockingly acurate?
If you think about it the English settlers founded this country with different ideas about government. So it stands to be concieved that America as a nation is that of a fledging child in comparison to it's mother nation England.
Decent analogy?

So far evil_paul has been the only one to see where I was actually going with this question. The nations themselves are what I am comparing.
I could give rat's @## less about Bush and how he screwed up as usual, and I don't think it's a big deal. England has always had the tact and grace to take such things in stride.
As for the US protecting England from the Germans, wouldn't you protect your mother? And what child today is not more technologically advanced than thier parents, like the US is to England today?

Bush doesn't have any ethics or morality, I'm sure that Elizabeth was appalled by his alcoholic actions.

Interesting analogy !!
The USA derived from the English forms of law, we modified the format of Parliament, and we retain the language 230 years later...
An interesting point is that the HRH has reigned for over 50 years now (2nd longest monarch: Queen Victoria ruled for 63 years), while we cycle leaders ever 4-8 years. The US has had ELEVEN Presidents since her coronation in 1952.
Elizabeth was crowned before MOST of us were born... Truman was still President... TV was still Black and White... The computer didn't exist...
Yes we're precocious children.
And President Bush's "slip" was stating that her visit was in 17... ooops 1976 to celebrate the Bicentennial

I though the Bush's comment was funny, but the rest of your analogy isn't very accurate.
Granted,England has a much longer history as a nation compared to the US, but if one looks at history, I would argue that the US has far surpassed England.
Oddly, enough, if it weren't for the help of the US, England would have been taken over by Nazi Germany during WWII. Not to digress to much, if your familiar with the expression "the sun never sets on the British empire", look at the world today, as far as the British empire goes the sun is going down rapidly.

Actually I was thinking the same thing. I have also heard other people make that analogy. So yes, it is a decent analogy.

No.....I would imagine even the Queen knows people aren't perfect and are subjected to making mistakes. It was not even close to being a big deal.

Bush put his foot in his mouth early in the evening and no matter how hard he tried to dislodge it, the big-toed bugger was wedged in tightly.
