If Saddam had cooperated with the UN, we would never have went over there. The idea that we went over for oil is as absurd and ignorant an assumption as anyone could ever make.
The Iraq war only costs 1-3% of our total GDP per year, so sure Id be happy to pay my share if it means we have one less mass-murdering tyrant over in the middle east.
But I suppose things like national security dont matter to people like you? Only your mindless Bush hatred and money.

I think the govt. borrows the money to fund this war for the same reason they ended the draft...when people are directly affected, personally or through their wallet, they tend to make better decisions and do some critical thinking. If people had to 'write a check' so to speak, do you honestly think there would be a war? Borrowing the money allows the lemmings to stay 'disconnected.'

If you have a telephone you've doubtedlesly noticed that you pay a "Federal Excise Tax."
100% of this Federal Excise Tax goes directly to the pentagon, so every American that has a phone is already paying a "war tax."

The 'war tax' is a good idea,
But the GOP will find some way to give the 'war tax' revenue to the wealthy.
Those poor overtaxed rich people. They 'earn' their $1000 an hour.

Unfortunately, we are already paying with the lives of our military.
The price of their lives for corporate interest is already too high.
"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested."

I would certainly b in favor of suspending all federally financed college loan programs, NASA funding, Amtrak funding, funding for travel and tourism programs, and any other non essential spending to pay for this war. Paying upfront is a great idea. Why not get the ball rolling by sending back any money the government sends you?

Sad but true. To bad there's no way to just tax the Bush supporters, which would be only fair.

Bikes? We have HAD the technology to get off oil for DECADES.
Oil company interests rule this country and "help the economy", it keeps us rich and keeps our leaders corrupt.
--Dem or Repub, it doesn't matter.
They will keep us fighting corporate interest wars and keep the people dying for them and keep our children paying for them as long as they need to get what they want,
when will 'we the people' take our country back?

If they tax me anymore I would have to get a third job and pay more taxes. Clair has this question pinned down already.
