When Tom snuck back home and found out that everyone thought they had drowned and that there would be a funeral, he snuck back to the island. At first he didn't say anything because he wasn't sure that Joe and Huck wouldn't get homesick even knowing about the funeral, so he waited until they were both ready to pack up and go home and then told them about the funeral and how much fun it would be to 'crash' their own funeral. Huck and Joe loved the idea, and that's what they did, though later Tom had some explaining to do to Aunt Polly, who didn't think it was very funny.

Telling them that not reading the book and getting others to do your homework will only hinder you latter in life. You may grow up to be less than smart.
