What the hell does that mean?! My friend's plane tickets were destroyed. He went to the airport to talk to them about it, and to ask if he might could somehow get a replacement ticket (after all, his information was still in the system), and whoever he talked to said something about "no devolutions" and refused to give him another ticket.

This doesn't seem right to me...What do you think? What might they mean by "no devolutions"?

First, you must understand the legal definition of the term.

Devolution: The transfer, by forfeiture, of a right and power which a person has to another, on account of some act or negligence of the person who is vested with such right or power.

In this case, the power of the ticket cannot be transferred to a new ticket just because the owner says "he lost it". It's a sad fact that this is because of the state of the world after 9/11.

WHat it means is that he most likely will not get a new ticket.

what they were trying to say was: No Refunds. I assume because the old tickets were considered almost like cash. Your friend might be able to solve the problem and get his money back, but it will take time. I am afraid he might need to buy another ticket if he needs to travel soon, then continue with the process of solving the issue of the first destroyed ticket.

I suspect he might have to provide some kind of proof that the ticket was destroyed, including a possible official report with police or some other kind of jurisdiction. A friend of mine had similar problem a few years back. All I can say is that I am glad for electronic tickets.

¿To what plane company in Mexico?.
He has the right to have a replacement of those tickets, tell him to ask for a "reposición por perdida (replacement because of loss" not a "devolución de dinero (money devolution)". Does this place has a web page to print his e-tickets and forget this mess.

I think is a language problem.
