Enviromentalists will not allow us to drill here in the US which will give us enough reserve to last 10-15 years. Did anyone else know about this?

It is political 4 sure.

#1 Reason: The SUPPLY of refineries is LOW while the DEMAND for refined gas is HIGH = Higher Prices.

Okay, so in 1989 Exxon asked Arizona if it could build a refinery there ... it's been in appropriations for 18 years!!! Other states say, "Not in my back yard" too ... which is keeping the number of suppliers down ... otherwise known as a "Bottle neck".

Should a State accept the building of a refinery in their state ... well it still takes 5-8 years to build this!!!

#2 Reason: All Canidates 4 president have jumped on the "Ethanol" band waggon ... while 20/20 did a report asking "Why" is Ethanol so good? First, it's produced by corn. This is good for USA Economy - It helps ppl in Iowa (Major Caucus State). To produce the corn it takes LOTS of pesticides that are causing "Global Warming" --- so it's a even trade petrolum pollution down, pesticide up. So despite this, Presidential campaigners are still waving their "ethanol flags" to get votes.

Second, Ethanol CANNOT be distributed like refined gas. Distribution would be done through "Diseal" trucks. So the number of pedistrian vechicals would use ethanol ... but there would be an increase of "Diseal" trucks ... again ... with a slight loss for the enviroment. Still politicains are waving their "Ethanol Flags".

Third, all this additional costs would force the USA government to "Subsidize" so consumers will use it ... So ... we have to ask ourselves .... "If it's sooo good ... why isn't it being done through competititon? Bottom line is corportaion are for Profit ... and if it has to be subsidized ... what's wrong with it?

I personally believe that the high gas prices are a scheme by Farmers, Truckers, and Politicans ... to get us to buy anything that they try to sell to us ... raise the gas prices so high they'll accept ANY proposal we throw at them.

Isn't it funny that six months ago (just before the election) gas was at the lowest price in years? Now, when the next national election is 18 months away, the prices are going through the roof. Do you really think that the price has anything to do with the supply? Don't be duped by the oil companies, if the prices were linked to supply then why are they making record profits?

i think it is outrageous that the gas prices continue to climb weekly and almost daily especially since we don't recieve a raise in our income as fast as the things around us continue to spike. but i do agree with the first person 10-15 years arent anything, there needs to be something else done. and the cost of fuel saving cars needs to go down so everyone can afford one.
