this may sound strange but i had 7 gardenia bushes and they where huge. tons of flowers bloomed it was beautiful. i used pickle juice on the bushes. i know you are thinking pickle juice.....dumb fool. but yeah pickle juice kept the leaves dark green and bugs off. when you go and smell the flowers there are usually tiny tiny bugs on them. you can get a jar of pickle juice from anywhere from any deli resturant, mcdonalds, grocery store etc. pickle juice kept them off. and no it does not make the flowers smell like pickle.

MiracleGro and Epsom salts. Sprinkle the Epsom around the drip line, water in with MiracleGro. Be sure not to prune the gardenia in the spring or no flowers. Prune after they bloom

good luck

I think they like quite a bit of water so I would make sure to give them plenty of water.
