He admitted in an MTV interview in June of 91 that it was an inside hidden joke.

He originally wrote the lyrics as "I've been Saved by the sound of Michael's Song", but thought it was a little too over the top, even for him. He liked the timing of the lyrics so he didn't want to get rid of it, so he changed the words to gibberish. He says he loves when he sees people singing it at a concert because of what it really means.
