Obama said that 10,000 people died in a tornado in Kansas
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070509/ap_on_el_pr/obama_tornadoes;_ylt=AiNR.prVqTGvOZ_GzKIMi46yFz4D
When the population of the entire city is no more than 1500 people!!
Now, I know he just made a mistake in his speech, but Bush does that all the time, and the Democrats point to that and call him stupid.
So, Democrats, unless you want to be hypocrites, you have to call Obama stupid now, right?

No no no.....you see Obama is a minority, so it's okay. There was probably an incident in his childhood that caused him to make this mistake. It certainly isn't his fault.
sarcasm.

I'm a Republican who happens to have a liberal view on immigration. If you want people to drive the speed limit and not 5 to 10 mph over, you have to enforce that on the spot - not suddenly turn around and retroactively hand out thousands of tickets and suspend everyone's license for what we've all been doing for a very long time. It's an unwritten contract that although technically illegal, the cops are going to let you get away with going a little over the speed limit. We have been lax on enforcing illegal immigration and looked the other way. It's much easier to turn people away at the border or deport them once their visa expires than to throw them out of the country once they've been here for many, many years and built a life here. Ultimately, we need to secure the border and to find out who's here. If they aren't criminals, I don't have a problem with a pathway to citizenship - and I have no desire to squeeze these people like many other conservatives seem to feel is necessary. As far as "jumping the line", the problem there is that there is a line at all. Our legal immigration system is so screwed up that it's backing up people who should be able to enter and contribute to the country. All of that is just context... To answer your question, I still don't have a problem with the term. The "illegal" in "illegal immigrant" denotes status - the same way we have "single people" and "married people". It's a factually accurate ongoing status. The term has nothing to do with race or racism. There are white illegal immigrants too. How is the framing incorrect? Just because I'm not big on punishment for a crime we weren't adequately enforcing doesn't mean they aren't ultimately responsible and accountable for their own actions. As far as employers, in the past many have not known (or quite frankly tried not to know) whether their employees were illegal or not. For those you can prove knowingly hired "illegal immigrants", I have no issue calling them "illegal employers" either. Go ahead and add that to the lexicon.

(my man!!!) Obama has screwed up in one of his speeches, unlike your bush who has screwed up countless speeches with stupid antics. So how do you explain you bush as well as your dan quale. the first time bush made a mistake we didn't jump all over him. and also obama made a mistake about numbers big deal. here are some bushisums. "we gotta ask ourselves is are children learnin'" "i hope they understand they will sucede more with sucess rather than faliure" so if obama said some of those things i would laugh but not call him stupid. I would say what he did was stupid and laugh at it and continue to support him. bush is a well educated man so im not calling him stupid either. however the difference is i don't support bush for i am a stonewall democrat.

Well, I'll say this. Obama has never been the President of the United States. I would expect from him the same as I do from Bush and did from predecessor Presidents. To be an academic role model for our kids if you are going to be our leader. Bush really does drop the ball, kinda like Lisa Raye or Beyonce as an actresses, they just can't do it. You have to admit that Bush doesn't just make mistakes in his speeches, the man just sounds unintelligent at times. Especially when he isn't being fed what to say. Of course, like him or not, following Bill Clinton isn't an easy thing to do. That man was smart, he was a lot of other words too, but you have to admit he is smart.

If everyone that misspoke was considered stupid then people that couldn't talk would be running this country. Hey maybe we have stumbled onto something here but seriously the Bush haters jump on everything that he does and they think that he conspired to cause 911 so what can you do. Anyone that would beleive that is just dumb and stupid.

No of coarse not. Obama is part of the elite of society, liberals. When they make mistakes, it can be instantly overlooked because they must be what truly make America great. They are worthy of our deepest respect and admiration and at no time should they be questioned or Heaven forbid their philosophy challenged!

Only a racist would call Obama 'stupid' for getting a statistic (12) slightly wrong (10,000). The man said, himself, he was tired. Running for president is a lot more tiring than actually being president, so he'll be fine once the race is over.

With Bush, it's actually more of a pattern of speech and behavior. Bush's actions show that he's not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, not just a few slip-ups during speeches.
The Obama quote is pretty funny. We'll see if he makes more mistakes like this in future speeches. But this is the first time I've heard him mis-speak.

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking of new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
Somehow, I think the person who routinely says things like I quoted above is probably a lot dumber than the guy who doesn't have every statistic at his fingertips every moment of every day.
Plus, the tornadoes didn't hit just one town, and there is no statistic yet indicating how many people were actually killed. They're still trying to figure it out.
Stop turning other people's tragedy into a talking point. It's childish and insensitive. And don't tell me "Dems do it too" because that, first of all, shows that you don't think you have to be better than those you disdain (which makes you worse than them because you make a choice to be) and secondly, I'm a Dem and I don't do it.
Grow up.
