Hi, I'm from the UK and I will be applying to university soon (About 3 months.. I think). I'd like to look into going to college in America. I have a few questions - Firstly, has anybody from the UK gone to the US to study, if so what was it like, what did you need to do, etc?

Are all the dates for applying the same?

Any general websites about studying abroad would also be greatly appriciated.

Also, (Last question :P) for the Americans who are/have been to college, what's it like?

Thank you!

I can only answer a couple of your questions. Each university sets its own application deadlines. You can usually find information about admissions pretty quickly by looking at the school's web site.

As for web sites that will give you information about American schools -- Princeton Review is particularly good. They have a tool where you can enter information about your background and your interests and it will give you a list of schools that are appropriate for you.

College was a great experience for me. As I am a professor, it still is. Americans love the British. You will find that many Americans will automatically assume that you are cool and sophisticated just because you have a British accent. It isn't quite like the scene in the movie LOVE, ACTUALLY -- but there is a seed of truth to it.

Good luck.
