I have a privacy trellis-fence 8ft high X 30 ft wide . I'd like a pretty climbing vine or plant that offers privacy and beauty. Any suggestions please

You did not mention your location. The fastest growing vine in my location (southeast) is Carolina Jessamine. There is a variety of that called Double Shot which will hold yellow blooms in spring and then again in fall. A very vigorous grower, it will reach 20 to 25 feet long. It is trainable like most vines. Also, it is evergreen, which means it will stay green in winter time. Other fast growing evergreen vines in zone 7 (southeast U.S.) are:
Banks Rose - Yellow or White blooms in summer, moderate rate of growth
Crossvine - orange-tangerine blooms in summer and fall, moderate to fast rate of growth
Clematis,Evergreen - white blooms(6 inch) in summer, fast to vigorous rate of growth

I assume you want something that comes back every year. You can try Jackson vine(it doesn't bloom), yellow jasmine vine, honeysuckle vine(not the ones you find in the woods - a different variety). All of these are dependant on where you live. I live in Alabama. You need to visit your local nursery and see what vines would be good for the zone you live in.

There are a lot of different vines you can grow. Do you want a perennial or annual? Spring flowering or summer or fall flowering? This wed site has a list of different kinds. Good luck finding what you like.

sweet potato vines grow very fast, have purple leaves (produce fruit). Clematis is excellent, very pretty. Honey suckle is the best at spreading over the entire fence. You can get several colors.

Clematis, honeysuckle, jasmine (carolina or star), wisteria, or you could consider bamboo. You will have to trench and install a root barrier for the cold hardy runner varieties, but it can provide a relatively quick & nice looking privacy screen.

fastest growing? Kudzu, but don't plant it.. it's a menace!

Look at jasmine or honeysuckle.. nice fragrances when in bloom. You could also look at climbing roses..
