I play World of Warcraft and use ventrilo at the same time. My computer is connected to a router.

I just bought a new eMachines T5212 (Processor: Intel Pentium D 805 2.66 GHz, RAM: 1 GB 533 MHz DIMM 240-pin DDR II SDRAM, Video: Nvidia 7600 GS, Hard drive: 200 GB 7200 rpm, Network Adapter: Integrated ) last year and around the same time, I needed to reset my router (bought in 98).

Since then, my computer has been making WoW lag up and ventrilo will disconnect every now and then. I don't hear anyone talking for a little while and then I will hit my "push to talk" key and it will disconnect me.

I have tried switching out my network card in my PC thinking it may have been faulty, but it still does the same thing.

I never had this problem with my old computer so I'm confused as to what the problem is. I'm considering buying a new router, but I want opinions first.

Thank you. I have tried to restart it like one of you said, that does not help.

Have you tried just rebooting the router to see what happens. They are usually fairly stable devices but mine needs a restart about once a month. Just unplug the power, let it sit a minute, plug it back in. It should take a couple of minutes to finish starting and then see if you have the same issue.

If that works then you are good to go. If not you might have a router issue or a modem issue. (I guess your router connects to a cable or dsl modem?) If you wanted to check that, just take the router out of the ciruit to see if the issue disappears.
If the router includes the modem then that wont work.

ur computer configuration is pretty good.

u bought ur router in 98...and ur computer in 2006
so u may be using XP..

the device driver of your router may not be comaptible with the new machine...

get an expert and get the both synchronised...

u can also get a firmware update for ur router...

your router needs a firmware update you can get this free from the manufacturer or better yet go get a newer router but even if you have a new router I still recommend getting updates for it.
