as i have listened and read the lyrics is always the Queen
can you give me more information why it is...
lyrics:
National Anthem
God Save The Queen

God save our gracious Queen,
Long live our noble Queen,
God save the Queen:
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen.

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall:
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix:
God save us all.

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen.

Out of respect, reverence and dedication toward ones country.
The Queen is a symbol that binds a nation, similar to our flag.

It is difficult for Americans to understand the position the Queen has in a monarchy. All things go thru her (or the King, if the case would be that) and imagine the chaos that would be inflicted upon that country if something were to happen. We have a President and while he is very important, the country has so many leaders that in the event of tragidy, we would pick up and move on.

i am english, a citizen of great britain and i have a problem with our anthem as you do. god is a fictional character and the queen is just the latest in a long line of monarchs that have imposed themselves on the british people and plundered their wealth. i wish we had an anthem that spoke about the greatness of the people and the beauty of our country.

It is hopeless as a national anthem and the tune is depressing. There should be some mention of the nation and its people in a national anthem not just a fawning praise of one person.

I think this has been a bone of contention in England for a while now - it's about time someone wrote another anthem for this country.
