I have never had pimples real bad, maybe a few every once in awile. When I shave , I use a mach 3 razor around my face. I shave with shaving gel and then I take a shower to rinse it off. I shave in the morning and then shower to rinse it off. I used to use the mach 3 everywhere on my face except my chin area, due to a few breakouts, so I used a electric razor around the chin area. I need some advice?

I've always had the same problem.. It's because the hair is growing in a different direction there, and so when you shave, you're creating tiny nicks in the skin that get slightly infected and grow into pimples.

The many suggestions here would work (astringent would most likely stop the infection, a fresh razor would be less likely to nick the skin, etc..)

I finally gave up on the whole blade-razor thing. It got way too expensive (especially with the mach-3s etc), so I bought a good electric razor ($100).. and it works just as well (if not better).. and doesn't nick the skin. Wish someone had told me that 10 years ago. ;-)

Your investment will pay off.. since the electric razor will last a year or two before needing to have the blades replaced (and then it's like $30).. how much will you pay for razors in that time?

PS It could also be the shaving gel.. that might get in the nicks caused by the razor and cause irritation..

SO, my husband is similar to you. What helps him is using warm water and shaving in one direction, and replacing blades more often on the razor. Hope it helps. I guess also you can try using some type of astringent a few hours after you shave to remove any residue or germs....

Scrub the area with a mixture of table salt or sugar and a bit of water-makes a natural exfoliant, and make sure you shave in the same direction every time-this will stop all those annoying bumps. Trust me, I'm a girl-and have had same issues with bumps...this works.
Good Luck

I have the same issue--I only get them around my chin and mouth. You likely touch that area to much. It may be your toothpaste, make sure none gets on your skin. Don't eat greasy foods either. I dont eat greasy foods but I don't know why I break out there and only there!

get a mirror and shave inside the shower
before you start to shave, turn the water on so hot you can not stand in it, get your hands wet with the hot water and rub your chin hair in a circle motion real hard. also, sometimes i shave my whole face and when i get to my chin i re-apply shaving cream. then get some face lotion from your girl friend to sooth the burning

I've found that appying vitamin e oil before shaving, or Witch Hazel after helps with that.
