I don't remember much about this programme I was just a kid when I used to watch it. It was set in America and was about a computer programmer who's computer programme came to life as a man made up of data kinda, he could Digitise through key holes and could also turn him self into a data car that was very sleek and fast. Does anyone know this programmes title?

It was Automan.

Automan was a U.S., science fiction, superhero, television series produced by Glen A. Larson. It aired for only 12 episodes (although 13 were made) on ABC between 1983 and 1984. The series was loosely, and unofficially, based on the 1982 film Tron.

Definitely sounds like "Automan". TV show from 1983, written by Glen. A Larsen (of "Battlestar Galactica" fame) and starring Chuck Wagner. See links below for further details and pics.

It was automan as said above, it was recently repeated on on of the UK satellite channels (UKGold I think)

he couldn't digitise himself into cars tho as you said. Instead he had a "helper" called chip who was supposed to be a computer chip that floated around and could "build" these vehicles for him (cars, bikes, helicopters, etc)

He was created by a computer wizz who was also a police officer and as such helped "fight crime" as they always do.

Great programme and definitely needs to make a comeback

I had a similar conversation with my partner a few nights ago. It's Automan you're talking about. It was very similar to Tron. He had a little light thing that followed him around called cursor. I loved that show! Go to Wikipedia and type in Automan.

It was Automan, containing the classic (!!) quote.....

"On a scale of 1 to 10, think of me as an 11...."

Camp as a field full of tents, a complete rip-off of Tron (which wasn't that great to begin with, lets face it lol) and lasted about as long as a snowball in a blast furnace...

Ah, the memories.....
