If you want to share your ADSL network between these pc then you do not need any thing else
1.connect your ADSL modem to switch and connect the line
2.connect your any pc that you want to use as server
3.setup you ADSL connection and check whether its working.
4a.now if you are using windows XP, then click on your network properties and enable Internet connection sharing.
4b.If you are using linux, enable IP packet forwarding.
5.Now your server will have two different IP address if you get dynamic ip from your service provider.
6.install a dhcp server on your desktop/server. if you want dynamic ip for other desktop, else ignore this step.
7. in rest of the desktop pc put server ip address as gateway ip address.
8. connect rest of the desktop to switch.
9. try to access some website
10.You are done with your setup

You have all that you need. First, get the cables ready for the connection, typically RJ-45 Cables. Then, connect the ADSL Modem to the PC that you want to act as the server.

Nect, connect all the PC with the network cable. One end to the PC and the other end to the 18 Port Switch. Also connect the server to the Switch.

Now in the modem configuration page, make sure that NAT is enabled. You can find it under the WAN Frame.

Thats it.

ADSL is configured

Well you need a router. It can be connected behind the modem. The switch can be connected to the router but not directly to the modem as the modem does not normally provide the proper local area network settings.
Think of a router as the traffic cop.. it knows what direction and when data should be sent and in what direction with out it you have a major intersection disaster!

Once you have that all you do is connect your computers to your switch (or directly to the router) using standard eithernet cables.

To make one unit a "server" you will need to setup the proper shared folders on it and then just use it. If you want it to be a server for the outside world as well as your local network you will need to set the router up to forward the outside traffic to the correct ports. (you probably want real server software if you decide to do that as non-server shared folders are really dangerous when exposed to the internet unless you really know what you are doing.)

Its not hard mostly just learning a little about networking.

You need a router to share the connection. The switch connects to the modem and the pcs to the switch. The machine acting as server has to have folders set up to share, then the exception in the firewall for file and printer sharing turned on. You may need to configure additional IP addresses to your router's dhcp range, most come set with very few allocated. All the machines need to belong to the same workgroup and you will need to set up user accounts on the server machine to control access to the files.
