Is it illegal, in the state of New Jersey for coupons and gift certificatges to expire?

Most (if not all) coupons have an expiration date printed on it. Some gift certificates/cards do not have an expiration date.

No, it is not illegal. Coupons have a set expiration date and usually with gift certificates you have 1 year to use it.

no...most everything has a reasonable expiration date...even milk

No, it is not. They must be valid for at least 31 days, however.
