Cameras Have not solved very many crimes Nor have they Stopped any from being committed! Cases in point the College Campus and Luxor Hotel killings/ shootings recenty...it's a false sense of security, based on a false pretense. This is clearly taken from George Orwell , Enenmy of the State and The Demolition Man! Don't take your freedom for granted. Who is weatching the watchers? Who will control them?

I think they are a good idea. They have helped police to capture a lot of criminals and get them off the streets.

I wish American cities could be more like cities in the U. K. It would make things safer. In the U. K., I understand that there are a lot of surveillance cameras all over the place. It makes me feel safe to know that somebody is watching out for me.

It's too "Big Brother" for me. In any event, I think we'd be better off with beat cops (cops on foot patrol), like we used to have. The presence of beat cops can actually prevent crime. Beat cops can aid those in trouble. Cameras, on the other hand, only record events. If you're murdered or raped, maybe there'll be a good enough image to catch the person (then again, maybe not), but cameras can't protect you.
