Reg or Regina - in other words, the King or Queen - usually referred to as The Crown, so this is read as "The Crown against Gough" (not 'versus'). This is always written this way for criminal matters where the whole bloody country is against you!

ps - criminal matters are written this way in many countries - not just the UK!

It depends on whether this is a UK case or a USA case. If it is a UK case, the above answer is correct. However, if it is in the USA the R is the last initial of a child's name.
