How can I connect two computers with a phone(modem) cable instead of using a cross cable?

Each computer has a fax modem and I'd like to share folders in one and use them in another computer while they are both connected to phone jack at home or while a modem(phone) cable is connecting two computers directly.

Buy an ethernet switch and a couple of lan cables ... hook both your computers onto the ethernet switch ..

You really can't connect with your modem. It would be extremely slow even it you did. (Modems are only 56k where as eithernet is 100mb.) So you dont want to do it.

If you dont have eithernet just get a couple of cards and add it. You will have a much faster system.
