Sir Alex ferguson is a Knight of the realm, an award highly coverted by the British peaople, and was awarded for service to the nation through his field of excellence. He is not doing himself, his club, his country or his nation any good by tipping the cup to go to AC Milan. His response to the question of 'who'll win the cup' should have been thought out a little more.
It was a knee-jerk answer from someone whos' team had suffered a slightly embarrasing and fustrating 'not at the office' performance. Come on Sir Alex , truly great managers who went to great heights without a 'Hollywood budget' like 'Shanks', Bob Paisley, and 'Cloughie' would never have tipped Johnny Foreigner. He is actually de-valuing the Premiership he has just won by saying Milan will prosper. He Should have replied, 'We had a night off and didn't do ourselves or our league justice'','' Liverpool will show them how tough the league we have just won really is'' !! Tom Keegan

Can you imagine the fuss Ferguson would have made if the situation had been reversed and Benitez had come out with what he said!
I think it is true to say that Milan will be favourites in Athens - but I can assure you of one thing, Liverpool will put up more of a fight than United did in Milan. If Liverpool lose they will go down fighting - United went out with a whimper.
Although I'm a City fan I always want an English team to win it. I cheered on United in 1999, I'll be cheering on Liverpool this year. Come on you Reds!

Hah, he might be right, but mostly there's the distinct odour of sour grapes wafting from Old Trafford.
After all, he's managed to get his team utterly destroyed by a team that Celtic held at bay for 180 minutes only to lose in extra time.
They can't be that good if it takes them that long to dispose of Celtic (or possibly Celtic are better than they thought!) so either they upped the pace to a point unseen at any point in 180 minutes of football against Celtic, or Manchester United are not quite as good as Sir Alec, with the greatest of respect, thinks.
The Scousers won't get stuffed like the Manc's did. Benitez is an excellent tactician.

Well, who knows. I think either side has a chance. What gets me is Alex Fergusons motive for saying such a thing . . one thinks it is complete sour grapes as his team is no longer in the running. He would rather support another country than a team from his own. He is an drunk gum chewing idiot!

i hope not, i would have prefered to see an english club win it, but milan looked class against united.

their defence were well drilled and the midfield didnt give scholes or carrick the split second they needed to play any decent passes and there finishing was world class.

another performance like that and sadly they will win it.

But hopefully the scousers can do everyone a favour and stuff the dirty white flag waving assholes

He became additionally extremely joyful in 1999 because of the fact guy United gained the treble! The FA cup ideal league and the champions league all interior the comparable 365 days!!!!

Yes. As soon as they were reinstated into the tournament after being kicked out over the match-fixing scandal I said they'd go on to win it, and I stand by that now.
Liverpool have been punching above their weight again in Europe but I can't see a repeat of 2005.
