i just bought a Western Digital 160GB SATA hard drive here in the United States.. i am aware that the voltage here in the US is 110.. will it work when i get back to the philippines where the voltage is 220? ...i mean, does it even make a difference? they dont make "special-only-for" 110v / 220v HD's do they?

No, your computers power supply will take care of that for you, making the drives universal.

The are supplied with an external transformer power supply for their own country. This means the transformer needs to be replaced for one of identical output, with the appropriate input voltage. Read the label on your psu, it will say input 110V. These are very cheap.

the drive should be fine. it will be the connection between your power supply and the wall i would worry about. they have converters for that stuff, but they dont usually recommend it for electronics. (I did it in the UK and it burnt out my mp3 player). maybe look into getting a power supply in the Phillipines?
