Good question. I'll go for The Smiths' 'How Soon Is Now' just because it's so ahead of its time.
There's so many others I love though. Being a child of the 80s I associate many contemporary songs with memories.

My fav song of the 80's is Europe's "Final Countdown". I was only young during the 80's and that song is like a soundtrack to most of my favourite memories of my childhood.

Hard to pin it down. I loved Howard Jones, Wet Wet Wet and many more. However, I tend to like stuff now that I didn't like that much at the time! I have lots of 80s stuff on my ipod - being a child of the 80s it will always be my favourite period of music.
