The California Roll is a classic because it is very moderate in taste; it pretty much pleases anyone. It's also good to try house specials. Almost all japanese restaurants have a special roll that they make, which is probably delicious. Anything else differs from one restaurant to another. As for the wasabi, it's true that it kills germs but I don't really like it so I don't use it. You're not in serious harm if you don't use it. Just be careful and pay attention to the raw fish you're eating. Make sure it's fresh. If it doesn't seem fresh, get it switched. I have gotten sick eating unfresh fish therefore beware. If you're not comfortable eating raw fish, know that there is a whole other part to japanese dining than sushi and sashimi. Cooked eel with rice, teriyaki, tempura, dumplings, miso soup etc. are all worth a try. Enjoy!

Definitely! Favorites, in order:
1. Giant clam
2. Yellowtail
3. Salmon
4. Red snapper
5. Halibut
6. Smelt roe w/ a quail egg.
7. Salmon roe w/ a quail egg.
Only one I really can't stand is sea urchin -- too strong a flavor.

Yep. At first I was unsure, but the more I tried the more I enjoyed it. In houston you could try 713 Lounge, RA Sushi, and Miyako's.....Their good!

Nope, but I'm a sashimi (raw fish without rice) lover. I adore pink salmon.
