I have always been terrified to fill out forms. I hate going to banks and post offices because I am always required to fill out various forms and slips. Tax forms are the worst. Applying for university had been a nightmare too. I sometimes even freeze out just filling in my own name. I don't know, but those tiny boxes scare me senseless.

This can't be normal. Can someone help me overcome this? It's so embarrassing!

It might me related to 'testing phobia' that a lot of people have. Filling out forms is like taking a test about yourself. Always bring a note book full of important dates and information you might need when you know you will have to fill out forms. Forms are also significant of anything 'legal' so maybe you feel if you do it wrong, you might get in trouble. I think it's pretty normal. I think many people feel stress when they fill out forms, especially taxes. Just understand that everyone who works for the government, bank, post office, or school is a human being with feelings and fears too. They might be different than yours, but everyone has both feelings and fears. If it is immobilizing and is interfering with your life, go see a counselor, in the mean time, get as many forms as you can get your hands on, tax, school applications, anything. Spend a whole day in the comfort of you own home, filling them out, even if you fill out the same ones over and over. Practice makes perfect, and the more you do something, especially in a comfortable environment, the easier it becomes. Good Luck.

Buy some graph paper, take it home and start doodling on it, writing your shopping list and your do-lists on it.

Beyond the little boxes on the forms in banks, post-offices, etc., that is a problem with trusting the people to whom you give the information. Talk with them about confidentiality agreements, and what they will they will do with the info.

Who knows... you might be correct in being skeptical, at least - I certainly am, and they seem to trigger excessive emails, sometimes, which is aggravating.

I hate to fill them out myself, it's boring and sometimes unnecessary...We live in time of computers and other electronics wanders, yet our society didn't manage to overcome embarrassing procedures which require filling out various forms...

Face your fear, make your own forms and fill them out on a regular basis.
