I recently got a bogus ticket for doing a flyby on the highway (passing on the shoulder), when my cruise was set only 5 above the speed limit and I was doing nothing wrong. Some lady called in "reckless street racing" due to some jackass in a Grand Am was trying to get me to race him...
...Long story short, any advice on evading this ticket? I am not letting this go through if I have absolutely any say in it, but with the car I was driving and how much the law loves to profile, there's no way I'm going to be seen as innocent.

okay, all three of you sit here and call me stupid? read the question: the only thing i was doing incorrectly was i had my cruise set 70 in a 65, whoo-whee. i didn't pass anybody on the shoulder, but like i said, due to the car i was driving, there's no way in hell anyone's gonna believe it anyway. burn in hell, dumbfucks.

Stupid is as stupid does.
Don't try blaming it on the jackass in the Grand Am. You were the jackass that passed on the shoulder.

You have no witnesses and you where speeding be it 5 mph or 10 mph over the limit you where still speeding. plus you passed some body on the shoulder which was stupid. If you do get a lawyer than you are going to have to pay the lawyer and the ticket when you loose the case to the cope who will testify against you. Also who do you think the court is going to believe you or the cop?

it sounds suspicious that someone was trying to race you. if you left that whole bit out, it would be plausible. passing on the shoulder is illegal too, i believe....got pulled over once for it..if it is obviously not a designated area to go around someone who is left turning.
anyway, if you told the police that someone was trying to race you, sorry. it just sounds bad. and i want to know what you drive!!!i dont think the law cares unless you appear to be a reckless idiot personality. is the ticket really that much money to make you want to fight it?

Passing on the shoulder is illegal, as is driving above the speed limit.

get a lawyer if you want to try to fight it. At best youll get the street racing charge dropped.

Overtaking on the hard shoulder is illegal, stupid, and tends to scare the cr*p out of whoever you're overtaking.

That's not mentioning that it's illegal to overtake on the nearside of a vehicle.

The hard shoulder is the part of the road set aside for vehicles in emergencies - i.e. stationary ones. Only a pillock tries what you have described.

Well it would seem that you were in the wrong & a lawyer may not help you much. But you spend your money & have your say in court. Who knows.
