Candidates for the Senators are in the website of COMELEC.

In the First District of Cavite, re-electionist Rep. Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo “Jun” Abaya of the Liberal Party (Atienza wing), a retired naval officer and PMA graduate and who recently passed the board as a lawyer, is up against incumbent last-term Mayor Jessie “JBC” Banyad Castillo of Bacoor who is with the LDP Party. Castillo and Abaya are both allied with the proadministration coalition.

Mayor Castillo since his first term as mayor has been an ally of President Arroyo. It was he gave her a convincing victory in Cavite over Fernando Poe in 2004. Bacoor is the only town or city in Cavite where GMA beat Poe. Castillo supports the whole Team Unity.

His wife is running for mayor against Strike Revilla, the candidate of the combined Lakas-CMD-Kampi coalition.

Abaya, although with the pro-GMA wing of the Liberal Party, is supporting the candidacy of GO’s Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, but he is for the Team Unity candidates.

Castillo is being backed by the Remullas, one of whose sons is Vice-Gov. Jonvic and two other sons are congressmen.

Abaya is being supported by Gov. Ireneo “Ayong” Maliksi who is an Atienza-wing Liberal.

Now that the Comelec and the Supreme Court have recognized the Drilon LP wing, the Cavite LP members are joining either Lakas or Kampi.

There are two independent candidates in the First District—Jose Herminio Flor Japson and Gerbie Fenequito Berado.

In the Second District of Cavite reelectionist Rep. Gilbert Cesar Remulla of the Magdaló-Nacionalista Party, is being opposed by is the last-term Dasmariñas Mayor Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga of the Liberal Party (Atienza wing). He is respected for having accomplished much in Dasmariñas. Barzaga is supported by Governor Maliksi who is supporting the Palace’s Team Unity.

The Third District candidates are reelectionist Rep. Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla of Lakas-CMD; newcomer Armando Avancena de Castro, Liberal Party (Atienza Wing); the former chief of staff Mike Defensor at the National Housing Authority. He is supported by Governor Maliksi; an independent bet Vivencio Olivar Causaren.

The betting in Cavite is that Team Unity will win big because, practically, all the candidates are pro-GMA.
