No, this one is painfully obvious. Many people (so called experts) say it is inevitable that the system will be changed to a playoff but think of it reasonably as a fan of any of the school that would have to participate in a playoff. The current 4 big bowl system, Fiesta, Rose, Sugar and Orange are all spread out across the country and lets say you are a fan of a team that makes it through a playoff and to a national championship. A regular fan would have to plan airline tickets, game tickets, hotel tickets on last minute notice most often and jump from city to city to follow their team. While many will argue that it works fine for the national champions in basketball, you are talking much great logistics (football stadiums just hold ALOT more people than basketball arenas) and it just isn't feasible for a typical fan. While I have no doubt the national championship will still sell out, if they create a playoff system and not hold the games at the home stadiums of the teams until the national championship game, it is just not feasible for fans of the teams to support their team in a marathon style playoff.

Nope. BCS has a TV contract for the next 6 years. So untill then its guaranteed to stay. After that it will probably stay as well. Causes lots of contreversy, which equals media attention. Also there are record numbers of fans going to games and watching the championship game. So finacially why would they get rid of it? Esp. since the money is only split up between the teams and confrances playing in the BCS games... splitting 2 billion by 6 is more then splitting 3 billion by 12...
