When the one that you are in no longer lets you get a good nights sleep. If it's old and crappy but is comfortable, don't replace it!
A good night's sleep with worth EVERYTHING!!!!
I am single but i need a queen size bed and trust me i use it all!.
EDIT:
Oh yeay, I just bought my new bed because I moved out and my ex kept the bed (I wanted to be the one that had the fresh start!!!)

I bought my bed to have a bigger playpen. Now it's just a big empty bed and I'm answering questions instead of sleeping or playing.
I hate that bed.

because i'd rather have a new bed delivered to my new place than have to lift the old mattress, finaggle it around the house, push it into a truck, and finaggle it around the new place.

i don't know... i just bought one of those really expensive beds that don't have springs in them last year... it's memory foam or whatever... i'm not even sure how long they are supposed to last... but hopefully a long time cause it was expensive...
