The med. excuse says I don't have to serve. The court papers say send it in with forms they sent me , but It does not say if I should show up at the courthouse. Do I have to show up? Thank you

Contact the Court Administrator's Office [or the Office in the Jury Summons] and provide them with the documentation of your medical excuse.

If you just do not show up when summoned, you could get into trouble, be held in contempt, etc. It is best to be proactive in avoiding problems.

Yes, you can get fined if you don't show up. And repeated attempts can put you in jail. I have the same problem and I did get a doctors excuse because of my antidepressant meds and being on disability. Yet they still bug me to show up. One time they made me stay the whole day and I never got picked even when they knew of my situatuon; but I think I did get paid well. I traveled 25 miles and got a reimbursement check for $40. Thats not too bad considering the small rural community I live in.

That would not fly here. Last time I had jury duty there were two people in wheel chairs and one poor old fellow sucking on an oxygen tank.

just CALL THEM UP NEXT TIME KEEP THE ORIGINAL AND MAIL IT CERTIFIED. MAYBE YOU CAN FINE THEM WITH A LAW SUIT IF THEY CONTINUE TO HARASS YOU WHEN YOU HAVE MEDICAL ISSUES. shows YOU JUST HOW WELL THEY LISTEN. but UNFORTUNATELY FOR ITS VICTIMS..THE ACCUSED.. AS THEY SAY YOUR SUBJECT TO A JURY THAT WASN'T SMART ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF JURY DUTY. THE EDUCATED CAPABLE OF CRITICAL THINKING AND THE LAW REASONABLE DOUBT ARE PROBABLY TOO BUSY FOR IT. SO THEY GET STUCK WITH THESE DUMB ONES WHO THING FORTY BUCKS FOR A DAY IS GETTING PAYED WELL. LOL

Med excuse? Like, what is wrong? Are you undergoing brain surgery that day???
Unless you call and they say otherwise,I'd be there!
Unfortunately, they've seen so many doctor's notes, they've become quite jaded about them..
