I dont know if I would say it is patriotism as much as it is pride. As a Mexican-American I was raised by two Mexican parents. They raised me speaking spanish, listening to Mexican music, and watching Mexican television.

Our most impressionable time is the time when we are children. I think the impressions we get as children, being raised as Mexicans leaves such an impact on us that we feel a much stronger connection to that part of us than the American part.

We have our roots in that culture much more than the American culture. Most of us are raised in areas with lots of Mexicans living in them.. so the culture is all around us.

It is much easier to identify with the Mexican part of our heritage because it accepts us as well. When I walk down the street, people see a Mexican first, then maybe an American.

Everyone wants to be accepted and this one common thing brings all of us together. We like to show off our pride because it lets everyone know we are proud of what we are and what where we came from... our parents.

Most of our parents lived hard lives so we could live the American dream. That combined with how high family is held in the Mexican culture brings forth the pride that most people see.

i became into not happy with each thing that GW did, yet did comprehend that he had the proper hobbies of the country in concepts. He advised the country what he became into going to do and observed by using on those plans. He warned that we could tire of the war against the terrorists and he became into top. there'll be countless the flaws completed via him for the time of his tenure that's not extremely to his credit, yet standard he did nicely with the circumstances of the time. he would be ranked as a solid president inspite of the nitpicking left wingers. Obama besides the incontrovertible fact that may not going be fondly remembered and background purely isn't form to his tenure. I believe it's the pride of their descent. They have come to this country and feel that they are a minority (pretty close), and present pride of their heritage to become a separate culture instead of blending with Americans. That is one of the simple rights our country grants immigrants, and everyone.
I wish everyone could be proud to be an American first and foremost.

The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.

They don't seem to. They do. But then there's a lot of Americans who describe themselves as Italian or Irish even though they are many, many generations from their immigrant relatives. I think it's an insecurity and it must be how they're raised. I think they really do have more allegiance to their heritage than to their country.

Mexicans had an indelible allegiance to Mexico even when they are already in the US. It is an accepted principle in International Law since blood is thicker than water.

Mexican pride. However, they are here; work here; pay taxes here; raise their family here and serve in the armed forces here. They are no less American patriots than you and I.

It's a misunderstanding of culture. In general they actually prefer the U.S. but are proud of their heritage and like to show where their roots are. It's kind of like the Texan who likes living in California who sports a bumper sticker that says "Texan and proud of it!"

I haven't seen any evidence of that. Of course, I'm not a bigot who tries to bullly and slander people, either.
