If you have a blown head gasket it can blow all your coolant out the overflow

The answer could be what is called ( Air Lock ) . This is when a pocket of air remains in the engine after filling the coolant system . Also you could have a blown head gasket , leaking into the coolant system .

The cheapest and most likely first and that would be replace the cap they wear out and they are supposed to work at about 15lbs or so pressure.
If not you get exactly what you're having happen now.
If this does not correct the problem go to the dealer and they will run the appropriate tests so you don't waste you're money on things you don't need to fix or replace like at most of other machanics

Does it start doing it before the car heats up? If yes...blown head gasket. If not wait for it to heat up and squeeze your coolant line to the radiator it should be firm. If not it's your cap if it is you might have a plugged radiator or a bad thermostat not opening correctly.

Is it leaking or is coolant getting forced out of it? Get it checked out and fixed to avoid damaging your engine

It's a head gasket worn out.

You may try a block sealer on your coolant, it may help, it may not. It's worth the try

Block Sealer ( $ 6 block sealer + $12 antifreeze )

Head Job : $ 200 - $300

Good luck!

a thermostat that is stuck closed can create this problem
also look at the neck of the radiator (mainly if plastic tanks) look for a smooth sealing surface for the cap to seal

You are having a back pressure. Maybe a blown headgasket,a crack cylinder head, or a fault radiator.

Sounds like it's getting too hot and that there is air in the system. Get the system flushed.
